KJARTAN LAURITZEN

Kjartan Lauritzen has gone from being a reasonably normal boy from Balestrand in Sogn & Fjordane to becoming Norway's new rap superhero. With super catchy songs performed in his native dialect and his joy-spreading character, Kjartan first took the renowned Bergen music scene by storm, before the rest of the country quickly opened their eyes and ears to smash hits such as “Fredag” and “Havanna”.

“Kjartan Lauritzen is a project that has always been about everything positive and nice. So for me it has been a place I have had to try to make myself think positively and be happy, even though I may not have been in that mood the day or week I’ve been working with the music. I experienced that it was good for me to be able to go into a zone where I really had to try to think of positive things, funny things and to be a kind.”

Kjartan recently announced that he is starting his own religion, the “Kjartanism”. The religion is, in short, about spreading positivity and joy, and encouraging people to have faith in themselves and to follow their dreams. Within a day after he shared the news, the religion had over 2000 followers.

Notoriously known for his live shows, also acknowledged by two P3Gull nominations for “Best Live Artist”, Kjartan certainly creates a unique connection with his audience.

With new music and projects underway, Kjartan is the one to watch for the coming year of music.
